چکیده
Abstract The limited options for bone repair have led to an extensive research of the field and development alloplastic xenogeneic grafts. purpose this study was evaluate with two substitutes: deproteinized bovine (DBB) biphasic calcium phosphate ceramic (BCP) in critical-size defect. A total 8-mm defects were made parietal bones rabbits (n=12). animals divided into three experimental groups: sham (defect filled a blood clot), DBB DBB), BCP BCP). After periods 15 45 days, euthanized submitted histomorphometric analysis. defect area, mineralized tissue biomaterial soft area evaluated. greater amount immature particles observed group compared at days (p<0.05). There no difference qualitative pattern deposition between BCP. However, did not show osteoid islands along defect, presenting collagen fibers as well relation groups. number inflammatory cells In conclusion, are optimizing use grafts maxillofacial rehabilitation. Bone treated showed days.

BMP2-coprecipitated calcium phosphate granules enhance osteoinductivity of deproteinized bovine bone, and bone formation during critical-sized bone defect healing
Most materials used clinically for filling critical-sized bone defects (CSBD), such as deproteinized bovine bone (DBB), lack osteoinductivity so that their therapeutic effects are far from satisfactory. The effect of bone morphogenic protein 2 (BMP2)-coprecipitated biomimetic calcium phosphate granules (BMP2-cop.BioCaP) on osteoinduction of DBB graft(s) during CSBD healing is still unknown. We ...
متن کاملCalcium Phosphate Based Three-Dimensional Cold Plotted Bone Scaffolds for Critical Size Bone Defects
Bone substitutes, like calcium phosphate, are implemented more frequently in orthopaedic surgery to reconstruct critical size defects, since autograft often results in donor site morbidity and allograft can transmit diseases. A novel bone cement, based on β-tricalcium phosphate, polyethylene glycol, and trisodium citrate, was developed to allow the rapid manufacturing of scaffolds, by extrusion...
متن کاملSimvastatin and biphasic calcium phosphate affects bone formation in critical-sized rat calvarial defects.
PURPOSE To investigate the effects of locally applied simvastatin plus biphasic calcium phosphate (BoneCeramic(r)) or collagen sponge on bone formation in critical-sized bone defects. METHODS Thirty defects of 5mm in diameter were created bilaterally with a trephine bur in the calvariae of fifteen Wistar rats. The defects were divided into five groups: group 1 - control, no treatment; group 2...
متن کاملBiphasic calcium phosphate ceramics in small bone defects: potential influence of carrier substances and bone marrow on bone regeneration.
OBJECTIVES Synthetic calcium phosphate bone substitutes such as hydroxyapatite (HA), beta-tricalcium phosphate (beta-TCP) or mixtures are alternatives to autogenous bone grafts. TricOs T((R)) and Collagraft((R)) are resorbable bone substitutes consisting of biphasic calcium phosphate and a bioactive matrix. Both products have a similar HA to beta-TCP ratio, but differ by their matrix. It was th...
متن کاملBone regeneration in critical-sized bone defect enhanced by introducing osteoinductivity to biphasic calcium phosphate granules.
OBJECTIVES Biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) is frequently used as bone substitute and often needs to be combined with autologous bone to gain an osteoinductive property for guided bone regeneration in implant dentistry. Given the limitations of using autologous bone, bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP2)-coprecipitated, layer-by-layer assembled biomimetic calcium phosphate particles (BMP2-cop.Bio...
